The Grondin Perlon Takes Center Stage This Winter

6 May 2026

Grondin Perlon Chelidonichthys lucerna poisson de saison Mr.GoodfishThe Perlon Gurnard (Chelidonichthys lucerna), known in some regions as the “red gurnard,” is recognizable by the blue-green coloration on the underside of its pectoral fins. Like other goby species, it belongs to the Triglidae family. This family is known for “grunting”; by vibrating their swim bladders, they emit grunting sounds.

Living on the seabed, these fish are able to “walk” short distances using the first three rays of their pectoral fins.

These rays have evolved to resemble small legs used for movement as well as for detecting prey on the seabed.

The Perlon Gurnard, little known to consumers, nevertheless has firm and delicate flesh that is appreciated by fish lovers. This winter, the Perlon Gurnard is featured on the Mr.Goodfish lists. Don’t hesitate to give it a try!
