By-products

You’ve probably noticed the trophies we awarded at the first Mr.Goodfish cooking contest!
But did you know that these trophies are largely made from recycled marine products?

In fact, the main parts—representing a cuttlefish and a herring—were 3D-printed using a resin infused with scallop shells.

This gives them both a very interesting aesthetic and makes them sustainable.
In other words, we’re talking about byproducts here!

By-products are waste materials from the fishing industry that can be repurposed for entirely different uses across various sectors: energy, agriculture, economics, and more. These by-products help meet the new environmental standards implemented by the government to reduce industrial waste.

In Boulogne-sur-Mer, we are very familiar with the challenge of zero waste. In fact, as the leading fishing port, we utilize 100% of the fish that is caught. As a result, 40,000 tons of byproducts are reintroduced into the cosmetics and animal feed markets.
