From October 28 to November 4, 2017, to mark the opening of the shellfish fishing season, French chefs from the Euro-Toques France association are showcasing scallops from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. On the menu: a culinary (and festive!) celebration of the expertise of an entire industry and region, from boat to plate.
At the initiative of the Euro-Toques association, which counts nearly 250 chefs in France, more than 230 establishments across the country are showcasing the scallops from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. For over thirty years, the Euro-Toques association, founded in 1986 by Paul Bocuse and Pierre Romeyer, has worked to preserve and promote quality food products of guaranteed origin through its European network of chefs and in collaboration with the Executive Commission in Brussels and the Directorates-General for Agriculture, Consumer Protection, and Public Health. By championing threatened products and practices, Euro-Toques highlights sectors committed to quality initiatives, such as the sustainable fishing practices carried out since 1970 in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.
For this edition, the Bay of Saint-Brieuc Scallop Week brings together more than 230 establishments across France (a list of participating establishments will be available starting October 13 at www.eurotoques-france.fr). For a whole week, restaurants will offer their customers a special menu, letting their imaginations run wild to showcase this mollusk, which has been enjoyed since prehistoric times.
Whether in a salad, poached, on a skewer, or en papillote: there will be something for everyone! Special events are also planned to celebrate the scallop in style!
