Description
The striped bonito is characterized by a spindle-shaped body and an oval cross-section. It is an active predator that feeds primarily on small fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans.
Habitat
This species inhabits both marine environments—specifically pelagic neritic waters—and brackish waters. At sea, it is found at depths ranging from 80 to 200 meters.
Distribution
The species is found in the eastern Atlantic, from Oslo, Norway, to Port Elizabeth, South Africa, including the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
