Description
The striped bonito is distinguished by the four to six long, dark longitudinal stripes that run along its silvery-white belly. Its back is bluish-gray, with no markings.
Habitat
It is generally found at depths ranging from 0 to 260 meters (although some records indicate depths of up to 600 meters), usually staying near the surface, and prefers tropical and warm temperate waters with water temperatures between 15°C and 30°C.
Distribution
It is found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea. However, it is not found in the Black Sea.
