Description

The squid is a cephalopod with a slender body, a mantle that can reach up to 40 cm in length, rhomboid fins covering two-thirds of its mantle, eight arms, and two tentacles used to capture prey. Its color varies because it can change color (pinkish, whitish, spotted) through its chromatophores.
Habitat
It is a neritic squid, which means it lives mainly in coastal waters, above the continental shelf. It is generally found between the surface and a depth of 400 to 500 meters.
Distribution
The Loliginidae family is found in all the tropical and temperate seas around the world. This squid is very common from the North Sea to the Mediterranean.
