Description
The small yellow sole does not exceed 15 cm in length. Its sand-colored body is oval and elongated, tapering gradually from the front third toward the tail. Buglossidium luteum is easily identifiable by the presence of darker stripes that alternate every 5 to 7 rays in the dorsal and anal fins.
Habitat
This species lives alone on the sandy seabed.
Distribution
It is found in the Atlantic Ocean, from Iceland to Morocco, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea.
